Michael Thompson Band
In 1988, Michael Thompson Band landed a record deal with Geffen Records. The eponymous Michael Thompson Band (also known by its initial logo, MTB), featuring lead vocals by Moon Calhoun, released the album How Long in 1989 and had a Billboard chart hit that year with the single "Can't Miss". The single hit #33 on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. Other musicians on the album included Toto singer Bobby Kimball and ex-Kansas singer John Elefante on background vocals and John Keane, Terry Bozzio (Frank Zappa and Missing Persons) and Pat Torpey (Mr. Big) on drums. As of today "How Long" is still regarded as one of the highest examples of hi-tech AOR / West Coast, with a superb production and immaculate songwriting. Just like its predecessor, 'Future Past' is an almost flawless collection of quality high end melodic rock songs. Generally speaking, 'Future Past' pretty much takes up where the first album left off and ticks all the right AOR boxes. In fact there is not a bad track on here and 'Future Past' is another perfect album for that sunny afternoon/convertible with top down/long straight road combination. Read more on Last.fm.
